Watch Hunger Drive live on Continue Play!

Looking for something to do this weekend? Do you enjoy winning awesome stuff? Do you like saving children? If you answered yes to these questions, then we might just have the perfect thing for you.

Hunger Drive is a 40 hour live stream endorsed by World Vision which aims to raise as much money as it can for the malnourished children of Malawi. It’s a new take on the classic 40 Hour Famine idea, a way to bring a 40-year-old event into the modern era. This whole event has been created by 10 enthusiastic gamers who realize the potential that gaming has in the world of charity, and don’t mind slowly losing their minds over 40 straight hours of gaming. While that might sound like heaven to many, believe us when we say that such a prolonged playtime soon takes its toll. Trust us - we’ve done it before. We’re still finding fragments of a smashed Dualshock 3 controller during the cleaning.

Equipment and prizes have been provided by Playtech, Logitech and Computer Lounge, who have all helped to make this epic event a reality.

With some amazing games, 10 awesome presenters (including yours truly) and some brilliant prizes on offer, this should be a weekend to remember. Every $5 NZD that you donate grants one entry into a prize draw, and there are thousands of dollars worth of gaming peripherals on offer - plus some copies of Watch Dogs on PC, so make sure to donate as much as you can!

Also worth keeping in mind is that the top donation wins one of everything there is on offer, which is a real incentive to empty out that PayPal balance.

There’ll be a mixture of games on show during the marathon, including Watch Dogs, Day Z, Minecraft, Battlefield, Call of Duty and many more, which combined with an equally diverse mixture of personalities means there will be something for everyone over the 40 hours. There will even be a live review of Anomaly Defenders for Continue Play! Make sure to tune in here, where we’ll be streaming the whole event live. Alternatively, you can head over to Twitch, should our bandwidth fail us, or gremlins manage to break down the doors of our server room.

Head over to www.hungerdrive.org/donate to put your name in the draw for those prizes. You can even go like and follow their Facebook and Twitter pages to keep yourself up do date over the weekend.

World Vision performs unparalleled work within communities, providing the infrastructure and education required to make villages self-sustainable now and into the future to help communities thrive and overcome disasters. This year, all proceeds will be going to Malawi - a country that is facing one of the worst food crises ever seen after a devastating flood at the beginning of last year which saw thousands of people displaced from their homes and mourning loved ones. With the power of gaming and the internet, you can help World Vision to continue doing their amazing work, whilst potentially winning some cool prizes for yourself at the same time.

This should be an awesome weekend full of gaming and fantastic memories, so make sure to get yourself involved by donating and tuning in! The event starts Today, at 9PM GMT/ 3PM EST. New Zealand/ Australia, of course, is ahead of us when it comes to time zones - so for them, the start time is 8AM on May 31.
