The Forest Enters Early Access Alpha Today

Today, Endnight Games released the Early Access alpha for The Forest, their upcoming survival horror game set in a mysterious forest inhabited by mutant cannibals. It’s sort of like Nottingham then, only with nicer weather. After surviving a plane crash you awaken in a forest and must explore, hunt, build, and kill your way to survive in this “survival simulator.”

The four man team of Endnight Games released a press release today stating that they will build upon the alpha testing to add in more animals, interactions, and emergent moments to enhance the player experience. Through public player testing they will also tighten up the game play to create what they hope to be an “unforgettable survival horror experience.” It appears that there will also be some multiplayer elements that will include co-op and possible even player vs player, but the alpha is focused more on honing in current gameplay mechanics.

The screenshots look impressive, considering only four people are working on the project, and you can check out the trailer below to see the game’s impressive visuals in motion. For more information on The Forest and patch releases, check out their Steam Page or the official website.
