The Order: 1886 Screenshots Revealed

The Order: 1886 is hotly anticipated, in part thanks to its setting - an industrialized alternate-reality London in the Victorian era. Sadly, a few days ago Sony announced that the game’s release date has been delayed until “Early 2015”, crushing the dreams of players hoping to get their hands on it by the end of the year. Their reasoning? To ensure that the game is produced to a high-enough standard to be able to confidently release it, an admirable gesture on their behalf - especially when so many other games are rushed to store shelves high crippling bugs (we’re looking at you, Arkham Origins).

With E3 peaking round the corner - and the near-certainty that a new gameplay trailer will be revealed - Sony Computer Entertainment has decided to release several mid-combat screenshots.

Not only are these screenshots sublimely beautiful, they give us a clear indication as to the graphical prowess of the game and how visually impressive it will look running on PS4 with evidence of depth of field, ambient lighting and motion blur - all indications of a high-end game engine being used. The game looks to be crisp, detailed and very much faithful to the moody, smog-covered vision of London promised by it’s premise.

The screenshots also show a bit more about the gameplay itself - for example, how it will be a squad-based third-person shooter very similar to the Gears of War franchise in terms of its use of camera angles. The weaponry is also teased, with the M86/FL Thermite Rifle being used on multiple occasions and a C-78 Auto-loading Pistol being used in conjunction with Blacksight, which is rumored to be a bullet-time like feature.

Check out the new shots below.
