Publisher 2K has announced the launch date for Turtle Rock Studios’ upcoming 4-versus-1 multiplayer FPS Evolve.
The latest title from the makers of Left 4 Dead will receive a global release on October 21 for PC, PlayStation 4 and windows PC. If you preorder the game, you’ll receive an exclusive skin and a new monster character, to be made available after the game’s launch.
Evolve sees teams of four players taking the role of Hunters and facing off against a giant, hulking monster controlled by a human opponent, who can kill other smaller monsters in the game’s environment to evolve and gain new abilities. Hunters win the match by taking down the monster, while the monster wins either by taking out the opposing team or completing other objectives on the map.
More than a dozen maps will be available at launch, along with a number of different Hunters and Monsters to choose from. After each match you’ll accrue XP and unlcock upgrades, new character skins, new characters and perks. While the game’s primary focus is on multiplayer, Evolve will feature a single-player campaign, but so far no details have been revealed. It’s possible that we’ll learn more at E3 next month.
