Wasteland 2 coming August 2014

Developer inXile Entertainment has announced an end-of-August release window for Wasteland 2 for Linux, Mac and PC.

Wasteland 2 is hotly anticipated, and one of the most successful crowd-funded video games of all time. It is a sequel to the 1988 classic Wasteland, which inspired the Fallout series.

Like the original Fallout, it’s a post-apocalyptic RPG with turn-based combat. Players command a squad of Desert Rangers from both Texas and Arizona, and the aim of the game is to help the last of humanity in their struggle for survival. Wasteland 2 promises to be a true RPG, with “decisions that carry consequences and impact a living world.

“It’s exciting to be in the home stretch on a game I’ve been wanting to get to for the last two decades,” said Brian Fargo of inXile Entertainment. “The feedback from our backers on the early beta has been great and I’m proud of the way Wasteland 2 is shaping up. The scope of the game is immense with a word count that is greater than The Lord of the Rings novels and a solid 50 hour+ game experience that has diversity from beginning to end. My goal has been to over deliver on our backer’s expectations for Wasteland 2.”

In addition to the above announcement, inXile Entertainment has released an update to the Early-Access Beta of Wasteland 2, which adds Arizona to the game.
