With news of Hyrule Warriors‘ August 14th Japanese release date and the involvement of Team Ninja as a co-developer for the Tecmo Koei created Legend of Zelda spinoff, a large degree of hype is starting to build around the beat ’em up game’s release.
It’s fitting then that more detailed have now emerged via Famitsu, as translated by Siliconera, that reveal a bit more about the upcoming title.
One notable feature is that local multiplayer will be supported, with one player using the TV and another focused on the Wii U’s GamePad’s screen. It has only been confirmed that there will be multiple playable characters, although it has not been outright confirmed who these characters will be aside from Link. In a probably related move, Impa was also named as the leader of the Elite Guard, and will be wielding a long sword.
Different weapons will be available to give a different feel to combat, such as a one handed sword and two handed sword for different playstyles. Additionally, some classic Legend of Zelda traits and moves will be implemented into Hyrule Warriors, including Link’s Spin Attack, bombs, and Z-targeting for dodging and targeting weak spots.
The screenshots, featured both above and below, show off the world of Hyrule Warriors in action, and also give us a revealing (and I use that word literaly) at the new villian Shea, who’s design seems likely to have been created firmly by Team Ninja.
Check out the screenshots below and look out for a North American release date soon.
