Originally slated to be a PlayStation 4 launch title, Driveclub has been somewhat of a mystery until recently.
Last week we finally got an official release date of October 7 in North America, October 8 in Europe and October 10 in the UK, with little else but a new trailer to accompany the news. Now we have more information regarding the free version that will be available to all PlayStation Plus subscribers.
Jamie Brayshaw, Community Development Manager at Evolution Studios, explained on the PlayStation Blog that the free version is “Designed to be a quick and easy way for gamers all over the world to join the Driveclub community”.
The scaled-down version of the game will include 1 of the games 5 locations, 11 of 55 total tracks, and 10 of the 50 total cars available in the full release - 20% of the full game’s content. However, it will allow access to all the game modes.
PlayStation Plus subscribers can purchase a one-time upgrade from the PlayStation Store for $49.99, that will give you access to the entire game. Unfortunately, the upgrade is only good for as long as your Playstation Plus subscription remains active.
Would you prefer the full experience without any of the extra hassle? Well, you’re in luck. A full copy of the game will be available for purchase on the PlayStation Store for non-PlayStation Plus subscribers as well as on Blu-Ray in stores.
This is just the beginning in terms of new Driveclub information: Brayshaw promises more information regarding Clubs and Challenges will come later today and tomorrow.
