Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that as of today a free multiplayer mode addition would be made available for the free-to-play iPhone, iPod and iPad versions of Injustice Gods Among Us.
The new mode has been developed by NetherRealm Studios, the developer responsible for Mortal Kombat (2011) and the original home console release of Injustice: Gods Among Us.
The multiplayer mode will allow players to pit their team of assorted heroes and villains from the DC Comics universe against other players’ teams. Victorious players will score experience points, currency and ‘Gear Cards’ which characters equip to gain access to new abilities.
The update also brings a selection of new features including:
- New Gold characters
- Increased promotion and level caps
- A new Challenge character booster pack
- Bonus missions
- Match Replay: Players can watch their multiplayer battles and assess their fighting strategy
- The ability to upgrade character stats
At the end of each Weekly Leaderboard Season tired rewards will be distrbuted to players based on their ranking. Among these rewards are Gear which can enhance character performance.
This update comes as after the mobile version of Injustice: Gods Among Us has been out for a year; two billion play sessions have been logged so far. The update will also be coming to the Android version of the game sometime in May.
