There may be one shooter Titan (we’re looking at you, Titanfall) that fans are talking about, but Minimum - a new shooter from developer Human Head and publisher Atari - might have something to say about that. Human Head are new to the game, however; previously, the title was in development by Timegate Studios after being announced last year. But unfortunately, Timegate declared bankruptcy, and Atari has picked the game up and passed it over to Human Head. Human Head, of course, are better known for their work on Prey, a rather decent FPS released near the beginning of the last generation. Since then, though, they haven’t done much of note aside from the Wii U port of Batman: Arkham City and working on Prey 2 - which hasn’t been seen in years. Here’s hoping that Minimum allows them to get back on track with things.
Available on Steam Early Access this spring, the game seeks to redefine the squad-based shooter, and allows players to play as individual human-sized robots called Titans which power up, upgrade, and cause more havoc and destruction as the match progresses.
With a minimalist artstyle and balls-to-the-wall surrealist gameplay, Minimum may be the minimalist’s answer to Titanfall. After all, something has to capitalize on the public’s current penchant for giant robots.
You can learn more about the game on its official website. In the meantime, make sure to check out the announcement trailer below.
