Would-be dictators are now able to pre-purchase Tropico 5 on Steam, publisher Kalypso has announced.

Players who preorder the game will receive an exclusive Businessman costume for their chosen avatar and a special sandbox map - titled “Isla de Vapor” - when the game is released. There will be other rewards too, tied to how many people pick the game up ahead of its launch.

In addition to this news, Kalypso also detailed the contents of a Special Edition physical copy of the game. Pick up the special edition and you’ll gain access to a “snazzy” avatar outfit, the “Bayo del Olfato” sanbox map, along with a physical Tropico passport and postcard.

Tropico 5 makes large changes to the established franchise, which has previously come under some criticism for not making enough changes between iterations. In Tropico 5 you’re tasked with establishing Dynasties, ensuring that your family maintains control of your island over different eras of history. The game starts in colonial times, and moves through the centuries until the modern day. It also adds multiplayer for the first time, in both co-op and competitive flavors.

The game releases on on June 3rd in North America, while the rest of the world will enjoy it slightly sooner - May 23rd. Initially it will be available for Windows PC, with Xbox 360 and Mac versions coming later this Summer, while a PlayStation 4 version has been penciled in towards the end of Autumn.

To along with the announcement, Kalypso has also released a new trailer, showcasing the game’s various eras.
