Rock Band May Be Making A Triumphant Return

After 4 years of silence Rock Band, the wildly popular rhythm game series, might be coming to the new generation of consoles.

Speaking at a PAX East panel this morning, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos hinted that the studio has “grand plans” to bring the series back with “guns blazing”. Rigopulos was careful to point out that this was not an announcement for a new game, but rather that they would like to bring back the series “at some point”.

2010’s Rock Band 3 saw lower sales than it’s predecessors despite the addition of new instruments and an expanded library, so it only made sense for the small Cambridge studio to focus on their more profitable series Dance Central for the Kinect. Several years and a new generation of consoles may just be the kick-start that the series needs.

We hope to hear more from Harmonix in the coming months.

Whether it's the newest release or a retro gem that somehow slipped by, David's hunger for new experiences is insatiable. He also has an unhealthy obsession with good tea and craft beer, but that's beside the point.
