Sony Discontinuing Online Support For Resistance Series On April 8th

fall of man

While it should come as a shock to virtually no one who still is playing the somewhat venerated Resistance series on PS3, Sony has given a slight extension to the end of March deadline that they originally announced for the closure of online serves. Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance 2, and Resistance 3, all developed by Insomniac Games, will no longer have an online presence on April 8th.

Despite the closure, Insomniac took to Twitter to encourage fans of the series to go fire up their old FPS games and relieve the memories with employees that worked on the franchise:

The PS3 online servers for Resistance FoM/2/3 are shutting down on April 8. Hop on tonight and relive memories w/ some Insomniacs employees.

As far as an official reasoning behind the shutdown, Insomniac Games gave an even-handed answer:

@hatcheatluv84 there are a large variety of reasons why they have to shut down. Sony makes that call though, not us. They maintain online

So for any of you who have fond memories of the Resistance series, with the last game being released in 2011, this will be your last opportunity to go ahead and ‘PwN nOoBs’ Resistance-style.

Daniel doesn't just play and write about games, but he also writes his own comics. He can usually be found arguing with Dale about who the best member of the X-Men is (it's Jamie Madrox, obviously)
