Private Eye goes on Greenlight

Private Eye

Slacker Games’ Hitchcock-inspired Oculus Rift game, Private Eye, has joined the realm of Greenlight today. This is definitely a game worth backing.

For those of you familiar with Alfred Hitchcock’s work, this is reminiscent of Rear Window. For those of you who aren’t, you won’t be surprised to learn that Private Eye is a psychological thriller about a private investigator. It’s a cinematic game, much like Heavy Rain, but set in 1950’s New York. While watching the city from his office window with a pair of binoculars, your character has to piece together his memory after a terrible accident leaves him permanently disabled. You try to move forward, solving the mystery of your accident while elucidating the mystery of your past. Private Eye is a game with a lot of potential.

I got my hands on this at Rezzed 2014, and I must say that coupled with the Oculus Rift headset, this game is incredibly immersive. There aren’t many demos which make me lose sense of reality, but this one succeeded, even on a busy show floor. There will be a Kickstarter for the game coming soon, but for the mean time, you can head over to the Greenlight page and show your support here.
