Endnight games has released a new trailer for The Forest, a survival horror game currently in the pre-alpha stage of development.
The Forest sees players stranded in and fighting to survive relentless attacks from hordes of savage mutants and other things that go bump in the night. Players need to hunt for food, build shelter and can also lay traps in the environment for when enemies come knocking.
In addition, the game supports the Oculus Rift headset; so just in case you thought it doesn’t look frightening enough, you have the option of plugging yourself directly into the world, and subjecting yourself to all the horror it has to throw at you.
The trailer - which you can see below - shows off more of the impressive game engine, plus new gameplay features. We’re given a look at hunting, crafting and building your base. Finally, in a rather disturbing sequence, we’re shown a player’s journey through a cave system, only for them to end up in a large cavern filled with mutilated bodies hung from the ceiling - before an action sequence shows off a new enemy that looks like something out of H P Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos.
Endnight games has stated that this is the final trailer to be released before the game enters Steam Early Access, currently scheduled for 22nd May. We hope to have a preview for you soon.
