They’ve only gone and rebooted Gauntlet.

Gauntlet

If, like me, you’re on the wrong side of 30, you may remember a certain classic arcade game called Gauntlet.

Gauntlet saw up to 4 players navigating mazes and slaughtering a never-ending procession of monsters. Despite the simple premise and the now-dated graphics, it remains eminently playable.

Well, the folks at Warner Bros. Interactive obviously agree; today they have announced that later this year, a rebooted version of the arcade classic will be finding its way to Valve’s Steam marketplace on PC.

Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, the reboot looks to take the classic gameplay that people know and love, and bring it up to date with modern graphics, new game mechanics and both local and online 4-player co-op.

“With Gauntlet we combined the arcade style of the original game with an entirely new look and feature set that includes emergent, local and online four-player gameplay,” said David Haddad, Senior Vice President, Digital Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Gauntlet will be the first title in the WB Games Vault portfolio, which will provide us with an opportunity to access emerging talent within the game development community and match unique skills and experience with our extensive library of properties.”

Yes, I did just copy and paste that from the press release. Well, it is Monday.

To go along with the announcement, a trailer has also been released for your viewing pleasure, which you can view below.
