Fans of the Castlevania franchise will be pleased to know that Konami have confirmed that they will be releasing the amusingly long-titled Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD as a Steam-exclusive, later this month.
Mirror of Fate bridges the gap in Gabriel Belmont’s story arc, between the 2010 release, Lord of Shadows, and the more recent Lord of Shadows 2, which launched at the end of last month. The PC version is almost the same as the HD port of the 3DS game - which hit the Xbox 360 and PS3 late last year - but includes online leaderboards, a Boss Rush mode and the usual Steam Achievements.
While there has been no indication of how much this port is going to cost on the PC, you can read the somewhat lengthy official statement in its entirety below.
“Gorgeously re-envisioned in high-definition, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD is set 25 years after the events of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and acts as a precursor to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, available now. The game will be available exclusively via the Steam download service later this month.
As the middle title in the trilogy, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD tells the story of some of Gabriel Belmont’s descendants, including Simon and Trevor Belmont, as they battle their own destiny only to discover their true, shocking fate. Trevor Belmont, a knight of the Brotherhood of Light, sets out to avenge his mother’s death at the hands of his father, who has returned from years of exile to take up residence in a mysterious castle. The powerful figure that was once Gabriel Belmont now stands as Dracula, a powerful vampire. Dracula has declared war upon the Brotherhood and thus the scene is set for a powerful showdown between father and son.
In Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD, players take on the role of multiple characters, each of whom has unique abilities acquired while playing during the game’s different eras. Featuring a huge array of combos and an intuitive strategic combat system, players can use their characters’ weapons and magical abilities to take down anything in their path. The game offers huge, detailed levels and players will encounter enormous boss fights brought to vivid life within the PC game’s stunning HD presentation. The PC version also includes online leader boards and the popular ‘Boss Rush Mode’, plus the addition of Steam Achievements.”
