Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn?

Former NBA superstar Shaquille O’ Neal has clearly been busy since his retirement, as he has just announced his latest project, Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn, a re-birthing of his “so bad it’s good” cult-classic title, Shaq Fu. Marketed as “Devil May Cry with an old-school Streets of Rage feel injected with classic Shaq humor,” Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn is asking for a decent sum to fund its development at $450,000.

At the time of writing, the game has already raised $18,000 toward its goal, with 45 days remaining, so its’s certainty within the realm of possibility that this project sees the light of day.

Created by newly formed development studio Big Deez Productions, the production company includes staffers who have worked on such titles as the NFL Madden series, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Perfect Dark, Halo, and Final Fantasy. The influence from Street Fighter 4 definitely shows, but with the backing of such a strong development team, it’s likely that this game will turn out to be just as entertaining as its intended to be.

Check out the campaign video below, and be sure to take a look at the Indiegogo campaign to decide if this is a project you’d be interested in backing. $15, the minimum contribution, gets you a digital download of the PC version of the game, which is not a bad deal at all considering the work that has already gone into the title.

Daniel doesn't just play and write about games, but he also writes his own comics. He can usually be found arguing with Dale about who the best member of the X-Men is (it's Jamie Madrox, obviously)
