Following an apparent leak earlier today of the game’s box and basic details on Game UK’s website, WB Games has announced Batman: Arkham Knight, the fourth and final instalment in the critically acclaimed Batman series. Returning to the hands of Rocksteady - the developers of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City (last year’s Arkham Origins was developed by WB Montreal) - Arkham Knight is set one year after the events of Arkham City and will be the final chapter in the saga.

The trailer shows Two-Face, Harley Quinn and Penguin seemingly hell-bent on the destruction of Gotham under the guidance of Scarecrow who has united them all on a quest to do what Joker could not: kill the Batman. According to the game listing on Game UK, Arkham Knight will feature a drivable Batmobile for the first time in the series. The trailer features the Batmobile heavily, so it seems likely that the iconic vehicle will be a big part of the game.

WB Game’s statement on the release trailer also confirms that players will be given more room than ever before to explore, with the entirety of Gotham City available to them through which they can “tear through the streets and soar across the skyline”.

Due for release later in 2014 on PS4, Xbox One and PC, it will be interesting to see how the story ends.
