Nintendo to Start Offering DS Games

According to this piece written by Joystiq, Nintendo has made the unexpected decision to start offering DS games on the Wii U’s Virtual Console.

Considering that the Wii U has been met with poor retail reception, this is a clear move on Nintendo’s part to try and make their new console a little more appealing. While more and more quality games are being released for the Wii U, it needs all the help it can get.

There haven’t been any official announcements thus far about any specific titles that will be offered when the service launches, but Brain Age has been shown so it’s a safe bet that it will feature.

We have high hopes for this. A lot of our favorite games ever were released on the DS, and we’re curious as to how they’re going to play on the Wii U. It’d be great to see Nintendo make good use of the console’s controller, but we’re a little afraid that they’re just going to effortlessly slap the games on the Virtual Console and call it a day.

Time will tell.
