Injustice: Gods Among Us Roster Revealed.

NetherRealm Studios, known for it’s work on the legendary Mortal Kombat series, is working on its next entry into the fighting game genre. This time the focus is on iconic superheroes and villains. Injustice: Gods Among Us will include a roster drawn from the D.C. Comics stable.

The current roster includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Nightwing, Cyborg, Harley Quinn and Solomon Grundy. From the way that the roster selection screen is laid out, it appears that there will be a total of 24 heroes and villains for gamers to pit against one-another.

One of the more interesting parts of the gameplay, are the multi-stage, interactive arenas. Whilst multi-stage has been done before, it’s debatable as to whether it’s ever been taken to this level. Some Dragon Ball Z players may wish to disagree, however.

The interactivity is not new either; Mortal Kombat players will remember that there have been arena-specific Fatalities in the past and many other fighting games have had highly interactive arenas. An admittedly brief search, has not turned up any other instance wherein this interactivity has been dependent on what sort of character was being played (explanation and demonstration in the video above).

Other than the environment, Injustice focuses on two distinct types of fighters: ‘power’ characters and gadget characters. Superman and Flash are examples of the power characters - characters whose fighting style is based entirely on supernatural powers. Gadget characters are similar to Batman; they rely on technology to compete with their super-powered brethren. This will likely add to the strategic depth of the game
