Continue Play is an independently-owned, unbiased and platform-agnostic site that covers everything from the smallest mobile game to the latest major “AAA” releases.

Uncompromising, unbiased and unswayed, we not only tell it like it is but also tell it like we believe readers deserve - led by content, not clickbait and discussion, not diatribe.

We believe that the most important thing for our readers is the games themselves, not their origins or which platforms they appear on.

And we don’t give a f*ck about pixel counts.

OUR SCORING POLICY

We score out of 10. On a scale of 10, some numbers tend to be more important than others - a score of 5 reflects a game that is average. A score of 7 will be awarded to a game that is highly enjoyable for fans of the genre, but isn’t without its own problems. A score of 10 does not, under any circumstances, indicate perfection. A game we score 10 may still have flaws, but we enjoy it so much that we consider it an essential purchase for serious gamers.

  • 0 - F*cking atrocious. This score is reserved for games that don’t even run or install.
  • 1 - Hideous. It might run, but you’ll probably wish it didn’t.
  • 2 - See above, just not quite as bad
  • 3 - The game works, but it has severe issues either technically or with design that prevent it being worthy of any sort of recommendation
  • 4 - The game really isn’t great, but fans of the genre will find some enjoyment out of it
  • 5 - The average. It does what it says on the tin. It doesn’t progress the genre of the medium, it probably doesn’t even progress itself over its predecessors (if it’s part of a series), but it works and people will get some love from it.
  • 6 - Above average. The game has some issues, but enjoyment can still be found.
  • 7 - A few minor problems take the shine off of what could otherwise have been something great
  • 8 - Now we’re talking. A game with this score is truly worth your time. It will have some flaws, but it will be a fantastic example of its genre.
  • 9 - This is reserved for the absolute best of the best. If we score a game a 9, it bloody well deserves it.
  • 10 - If we ever give a game this prestigious score, you’d better run out and get it right away. It will be that good.

Lastly: Reviews are subjective. They reflect the views and opinions of the author.We take pride in that we we will NEVER be swayed in our reporting by outside pressure, but we also believe that our writers and readers shouldn’t have to endure the degree of abuse that is sadly becoming commonplace in the industry’s community. If you don’t like the fact that your game of choice didn’t score well on Continue Play then that’s your problem, not ours. Any commentators deemed to be giving writers, other commentators, staff etc any degree of abuse on grounds of race, gender, orientation, disablity or just general nastiness can expect to find themselves banned from the site. Disagreeing with opinions is fine; using them as a stick to beat others with just isn’t cool. Games should be fun, not a source of abuse.
