Editor’s Blog - Get ready for the relaunch

Published: 19 February 2024    Posted In: Feature, Opinion    Written By:

Hi all.

We’ve been beavering away behind the scenes on the new design of the site, and thing are starting to come together - so much so, that we’ve set a date.

On the 1st March, Continue Play will go down for maintenance for best part of a day while we sort out our relaunch.

So what can you expect? Shitloads!

For starters, you’ll see an immediate difference in our site design from what we’re currently using. Our new site has a number of cool features - on the homepage, we have notable gaming quotes. We have forums, and you can sign in to the site using facebook, twitter, or even Steam accounts. You can filter content according to article type or platform type, or use our powerful new search engine. Inside of articles, you can click on the name of a developer, publisher and find everything that we’ve written about them, too.

All in all, we have made over 300 tweaks and changes - I shit you not.

Continue Play was originally started as little more than a portfolio site; but through the ambition of other writers and a hell of a lot of effort, we’ve come a long way. We’re now registered as a company with the UK government, we have 21 people on our team, and we have a growing number of industry contacts.

When I started CP back last year, I had no idea that it would become as big as it has. I’m immensely proud of all the hard work that my writers have put into the place, and incredibly excited about what is to come. We’ve got this far not because of me, but because of you, the readers, and the hard work of a dedicated and amazingly talented team.

What you see right now is - to borrow a term from Game development - a beta.

Continue Play 1.0 is nearly here, and we sincerely hope that you stick around for the journey.

Past, present and future - the game is never over.
