As Ubisoft’s Watch_Dogs is approaching its release date on May 27th, Creative Director Jonathan Morin took to Twitter to talk more about the game and its features.
When asked if Watch_Dogs would have any microtransations, Morin responded pretty negatively, with his ‘No’ response in all caps:
“NO! We don’t use this to advance faster or any of that. This just doesn’t fit at all with WD. So no Free-to-Play model here.”
He was also asked to gauge how much mature content was included in the game, and if it’s avoidable in any way. If you’re looking for a PG experience, you’ll have to look elsewhere:
“I wouldn’t say it has THAT much but some of it is unavoidable. WD narrative is exploring some serious matters…”
Morin also explained that progress in Watch_Dogs will save dynamically, without the need for a ‘safehouse’ mecahnic:
“We save dynamically every progress you make so you never lose anything you have accomplished. Then we do have places to sleep…”
Lastly, Morin gave some insight on to what will be gained or lost from online interactions and hacking from other players.
“You get/lose notoriety. These unlock skills and there’s also a notoriety leaderboard. That’s all I can say for now : ).”
The lack of microtransactions in a AAA title these days in few and far between, so it’s great to see that Ubisoft deemed that this just doesn’t work and decided to not include this in Watch_Dogs.
