Volume dev Mike Bithell has released a new trailer revealing some of the enemies in the upcoming game for the first time.
There are 6 enemies shown off in this 91-second trailer, including the Pawn and the Turret which we were all expecting. The Hound is something we hoped for, and are happy to see included - but it’s the other three which really caught our eye. The Knight, the Archer and the Rogue all look like utter bastards - the Knight even has a sword. Check out the trailer below and then come join us bouncing up down on our chairs in anticipation.
For those of you who have been living under a rock, Volume is the highly anticipated stealth game from Thomas Was Alone‘s developer Mike Bithell. You play as Rob Lockley - a thief-in-training in a warehouse stocked to the rafters with high-tech VR equipment. Rob, with the help of a PC we all know and love, learns how to steal from the rich - the game’s villain Gisbourne - and give to… well we don’t know exactly just yet. Volume is also Bithell’s take on a Robin Hood-esque character in the modern age, where your character learns to - as the game’s tagline says - “Steal. Create. Be Heard.”
We’ve had our hands on the game a few times now, and we even sat down with Mike back in September during our Volume interview to talk about the game and how it’s going; every time we hear more about the game it only gets more exciting.
Aside from finding himself unwittingly thrust into the role as one of the champions of UK game development, Bithell is best known for creating the amazing retro-platformer Thomas Was Alone. Wes Copeland reviewed the game for Continue Play, awarding it 9/10. “Thomas is a concoction comprised of three compounds: story, gameplay, and music. All three of these elements are as close to perfection as we’ve seen in a long time … probably since Valve wowed the industry with Portal in 2007,” he wrote in our Thomas Was Alone Review. “If you’re a fan of indie, puzzle games, or stories, you are doing yourself a disservice by not playing Thomas was Alone. Whether you’re on PS3 or Vita, this gem is a must.”
This latest set of details has only got us more excited for Volume’s release on PlayStation Vita, PS4, PC and Mac later this year. Be sure to keep an eye out for our future coverage.
