Trine 3 will be available for early access on Steam April 21st. That’s tomorrow, in case you were wondering.
The first installments of the Trine series were 2D experiences. Trine 3 changes-up the formula a bit - it will be a fully 3D game. This is the main reason developer Frozenbyte has decided to give the green-light for early access.
“Trine 3 is our first move towards 3D-gameplay in the Trine series, so we wanted to get in touch with our player-base in an early enough phase to collect feedback on the new gameplay features, so we can tweak those into the right direction. Early Access can hopefully provide us with lots of players willing to do this.”
Trine 3 will go for £14.99/€19.99/$19.99 on Steam. It will contain two maps playable for co-op, both online and local. Frozenbyte says the co-op mode is a bit buggy. These kinds of problems are expected with an early release title though.
Frozenbyte is aiming to fix the problems before Trine’s full release later this year. The developer anticipates Trine 3’s final build will take about six to seven hours to complete. The full version will also have a level editor, and challenge levels to play around with.
