A combination of RPG and Rhythm game elements, 221 songs from across the Final Fantasy series and an RPG-like Quest Medley Mode. It’s a lot of stuff, so naturally the E3 trailer for the upcoming rhythm-and-music game sequel Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call only features snippets of them.
We weren’t overly enthused when we reviewed the import version of the game, finding it to be lacking in both challenge and substance. However, we don’t expect fans to be deterred when it includes so many prolific tracks from the Final Fantasy series, including series composer Nobuo Uematsu’s personal favorites. Fans might also be interested in the pre-order goodies in the Limited and Collector’s editions of the game. The CE comes with real-life versions of CollectaCards, items which are helpful when leveling characters up in the Collecta Crystarium in-game.
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call will be out exclusively for the 3DS on September 16 across North America, and September 19 across Europe. There are currently no plans for an iOS version of Curtain Call, unlike the original game. The release date may still be a few months off, but you can start tapping your fingers to the game’s music right now - check out the new trailer below.
