It’s been just over 4 months since Shinji Mikami’s The Evil Within hit the shelves with the promise of bringing the Horror genre back to it’s roots and the guys at Bethesda Softworks are already giving us a taste of The Assignment, the first in a two-part story-driven DLC series. The second part, entitled The Consequence will follow shortly after.

Both The Evil Within: The Assignment and The Evil Within: The Consequence will have players take control of Juli Kidman, Sebastian Castellanos’ mysterious partner and detective. The story will run alongside the events of The Evil Within’s original story and will help players understand the more grey areas of the plot. The player will encounter new enemies, uncover new mysteries and face new horrors. The overall aim of The Assignment and The Consequence is to give players the opportunity to dive deeper into the mysteries and hidden motivations of Juli and her connection to Mobius, the group behind the events in The Evil Within. There will also be a third slice of DLC titled The Executioner, set to follow sometime later.

The Assignment will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC as soon as 10th March with the PS3 and PS4 release following a day later. The Assignment and The Consequence are available as part of The Evil Within’s Season Pass which is priced at $19.99. For a sneak peak at what The Assignment has to offer, take a gander at the trailer below:

Dale reviewed The Evil Within when it first came out and gave it a respectable 7/10. “The Evil Within isn’t likely to be regarded as a classic of the genre,” he said in his Evil Within Review. “Many of its gameplay beats are overly familiar, technically it’s rough enough around the edges, and some will find themselves frustrated by its quirks. But it has plenty of atmosphere, and just enough in the way of new ideas that it doesn’t feel completely as though you’re re-treading old ground.”
