Tales of Xillia 2 European Launch Trailer

Bandai Namco have released a new trailer for Tales of Xillia 2 ahead of the European release tomorrow.

This is the first numbered sequel to a Tales game that has also been treated as a main entry in its own right. The game takes place a year after the original Tales of Xillia game, which follows protagonist Ludger Will Kresnick as he meets Elle Mel Marta, an eight-year old girl who changes his life forever, following a train hijacking for which Ludger’s brother is framed for committing. The duo join up with the heroes from the original Tales of Xillia as they search for the mystical land of Canaan. In a first for the series, Ludger is considered a silent protagonist.

Tales of Xillia 2 relies greatly on player choice to shape the experience, and the choices made can affect the outcome of events. Relationships with other characters can also be affected, with battles of words a sure thing to happen between party members (although, if like in the other Tales games, these events are sure to be fairly amusing).

The game was initially released in Japan in 2012 to critical acclaim, although Bandai Namco admitted that it had failed to reach their target sales. No doubt they’ll be hoping that the new Western release boosts sales more to their liking.

Tales of Xillia 2 is available now for PlayStation 3 in North America and will be released in Europe on tomorrow.
