Surgeon Simulator dev’s I Am Bread is one slice of bread’s epic journey to become toasted.

Videogames have long allowed us to break free from the constraints of reality and explore concepts and worlds far removed from everyday existence. We’ve spent decades playing as a plumber in a magical kingdom of sentient mushrooms, exploring snowy fantasy worlds populated by enormous dragons, and experienced limbo through the eyes of a goat.

Careful you don’t get a yeast infection.

So it’s perhaps not surprising that in the industry arms-race to come up with increasingly outlandish ideas for a new game, that it’s come to this.

Bossa Studios - best known for deliberately-frustrating-to-control operating table game Surgeon Simulator - recently announced their latest project with a suitably bonkers teaser video, which you can see below.

Utilizing a QWOP-like control scheme not too dissimilar to the likes of Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Bossa’s game places you in the shoes (or should that be grains?) of a slice of bread inside a common domestic abode, and allows you to get up to all manner of wholemeal-related shenanigans. Want to simulate making love with a loaf of Hovis? You can do that. Want to find out what happens when a slice of bread ventures inside a tumble drier? You can do that, too. I Am Bread might finally satisfy the cravings of bread enthusiasts everywhere, and we can think of no finer poster-child for bakery-related representation in gaming than that.

There’s no release date as yet, but I’m already feeling buttery with anticipation.
