Today, Sony and Sucker Punch Studios – developer of the Sly Cooper and InFamous – announced that the development team had been hit with a round of layoffs following the completion of InFamous: First Light. The news originally broke on Twitter with colleges and coworkers sending out their regards before an official announcement had been released by Sony or Sucker Punch. There has been no no word on the exact number of people who were let go, but in a statement to IGN Sony did confirmed that a “reduction in workforce has taken place” at the studio.
Some good friends are no longer employed at Sucker Punch. I'm going to miss having them around. Guys and gals, my thoughts are with you.

“SCEA can confirm a reduction in workforce has taken place at Sucker Punch Productions,” says the official statement from Sony released to IGN, “Sucker Punch is appreciative of the tremendous work team members contributed to the inFAMOUS and Sly Cooper series, and wishes them the best in their next endeavors.”
Saddened by the loss of some of the most unbelievably talented people I've had the honor to work with. Feel free to reach out w/ any leads.

Originally founded back in 1997, Sucker Punch made the original Sly Cooper trilogy for the PlayStation 2, with their last game being Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. Since then the studio had focused on the creation of the InFamous franchise, culminating with the First Light DLC being released later this year. It is unclear at this point whether the layoffs can be attributed directly to the completion of the Second Sun project, or if there is a deeper concern with the studio.
