A new trailer for Flashback creator Paul Cuisset’s Kickstarter adventure game, Subject 13, has surfaced. The trailer, which comes with a giant “Work in Progress” disclaimer, shows off some simple looking assets used in the game’s puzzles. Among them: A laser you have to guide by bouncing it off metal surfaces, a diary with a lock that needs picking, a segmented stone ornament that has to be rotated into the correct shape, and what appear to be a set of code-breaking exercises.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Subject 13 follows physics professor Franklin Fargo’s attempt to escape a laboratory prison. Although it’s not entirely clear how the professor ended up in his prison, it’s clear that murder of his fiance had led him to lead the life of a recluse. However it happened, upon awaking in the prison a voice calls out to Fargo, calling him “Subject 13.”
The gameplay is a throwback to point-and-click puzzle-driven adventure games of the past ,but Cuisset is also looking to the future and hoping to include Oculus Rift support should he meet the Kickstarter stretch goal. Speaking of which, the Kickstarter campaign is still 6 days from closing, but the developers are still $13,000 out from their initial $40,000 target. If the puzzling in the trailer below takes your fancy you might want to head on over to the Subject 13 Kickstarter page.
