Sony has announced more stars set to lend their talents to the upcoming animated movie adaptation of Ratchet & Clank.
John Goodman (Monster Inc.), Paul Giamatti (American Splendour, Big Fat Liar), Sylvester Stallone (Rocky, Rambo, The Expendables), and Rosario Dawson (Daredevil, Sin City) have all been confirmed to star in the upcoming 2016 release.
In addition, James Arnold Taylor (Ratchet), David Kaye (Clank), Armin Shimerman (Dr. Nefarious), and Jim Ward (Captain Quark) have all signed up to reprise their roles from the games.
The film is currently being written by Insomniac Games’ T.J. Fixman, with Kevin Munroe (TMNT) set to direct both this and the upcoming Sly Cooper movie. Both Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper are set for release later in 2016, with a remake of the first Ratchet & Clank game - to be based heavily on the film - also scheduled for release on PS4 later this year.
Insomniac’s last game was the Xbox One-exclusive Sunset Overdrive. Maddy Richards reviewed the game for Continue Play, awarding Insomniac’s colorful parkour extravangaza 7/10. Maddy praised the games bright, upbeat world and fun gameplay - though criticized the games lack of variety and long term appeal.
“Ultimately, Sunset Overdrive lacks the variety needed to sustain itself over the length of its campaign,” Maddy wrote in his Sunset Overdrive review. “For all its early energy and fizz, by the time you reach the finish line the experience has fallen flat.”
