The Arrival was my first experience with the Slender Man series, wherein I pretended that I totally wasn’t scared of Slender Man. I mean, he’s just a tall, thin guy in a suit. How scary could he possibly be?

I quickly found out that the answer to my question was “pretty scary indeed”, as I was forced to slowly jog through the dark woods with nothing but a half-hearted flashlight and the lungs of an asthmatic while some maniac kept trying to turn my brain into white noise.

Now current-gen console owners can get in on the fun, too, with Slender: The Arrival being released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. To make things even better, there’s also a sale to celebrate the game’s launch: PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold members will both be able to pick up the game at 30% off for a limited time.

On top of the sale, Blue Isle Studios is also holding a contest for players. While exploring the forest, a “hidden, ghostly, ethereal audio track” will play at random. If you hear the track, you can record it, then upload the clip to YouTube. Once you’ve got the video uploaded, send the link to [email protected]. Winners will be drawn at random from the URL for “amazing, glorious prizes! (Or maybe a Slender t-shirt?!)”

I hope the hidden sound clip is very obvious. It’s been a while since I played The Arrival, but I seem to remember a lot of the soundtrack as being “ghostly” or “ethereal”. Depending on just how random the clip plays while you’re playing, there might be a lot of URL entries that are just recordings of the game’s normal music. But on the other hand, what if it’s too obvious and it ruins the atmosphere? I don’t know. I’m sure that Blue Isle Studios is filled with smart people who know what they’re doing.
