It’s been a long wait for Europeans wanting to get their hands on Atlus’s 3DS dungeon-crawler Shin Megami Tensei IV. It’s been out in North America for over a year, and the 3DS’s region-locking means importing hasn’t been an option short of importing a North American 3DS system. Such staggered release scheduling has started to go out of fashion now that some Japanese games are being timed for global release.
The good news is that Shin Megami Tensei IV is set for European release “sometime in September” and it will come packaged with all the released DLC. That is, with the exception a set of bonus armor that was a retail pre-order goodie for the North American release. There’s no word on whether the armor will resurface in Europe as a pre-order bonus.
Sadly at the moment it looks like the European version of the game will be limited to a digital-only release, priced at £17.99./€19.99. There’s also no word on a European release date for the confirmed-for-localization of Atlus’s other big dungeon-crawler Persona Q, a shame as it we found it had some strong points when we reviewed the Japanese import.
