Central Virginia developer Zojoi and indie games partner Reverb Tripple XP announced earlier today that Shadowgate - the re-imagining of the Mac classic point-and-click adventure – will be available late this summer for PC, Mac, IOS, and Android devices. With preorders now available for PC and Mac directly from the Shadowgate website.
Developer Zojoi features Karl Roelofs and Dave Marsh - the original creators behind the classic Shadowgate – have returned to fully re-imagine and update the fantasy adventure game with today’s advanced technological and graphical capabilities. Over the last 30 years the original Shadowgate gained in popularity on PC, Mac, Nintendo NES, Gameboy Color, and the Nintendo 64 systems. With such long lasting support for the series Zojoi took to Kickstarter in 2012 to bring Shadowgate to a new generation of players.
“Dave and I are incredibly thrilled to be returning to Castle Shadowgate after all these years,” said Karl Roelofs, design director at Zojoi. “When we created the MacVenture series, we knew we had something special on our hands - the initial response from gamers around the world was overwhelming! Shadowgate has remained near and dear to not only our hearts but to those who remember the haunting original, greatly evidenced by the support our Kickstarter campaign generated. The past few years we have been hard at work re-building and updating the Shadowgate experience and cannot wait to inspire, challenge, and terrify an entire new generation of players.”
Shadowgate will feature hand-painted detailed environments and detail, as well as new “mind-bending” puzzles and intractable objects along your quest. Even though Shadowgate is a full re-imagining there will be plenty of throwbacks to the original for veterans of the series, says developer Zojoi.
Development partner Reverb Triple XP was brought on board to help Zojoi bring their vision of Shadowgate to life. “We see the tremendous potential in delivering Shadowgate to today’s gamer and we are working side-by-side with Zojoi to create customized programs for this unique game,” said Tracie Snitker, the president of Reverb Triple XP.
Finally, full details of preorders, pricing, beta testing and other Shadowgate extras can be found directly from the Shadowgate website. Here is a look at the new Shadowgate trailer, released earlier today.
