Shadow Of Mordor GOTY Edition Confirmed

Shadow Of Mordor GOTY Edition Confirmed

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will receive a new Game of the Year edition in May, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive has announced.

In a move which will surprise absolutely no-one, the GOTY edition will bundle the game and all DLC, and will be released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on May 8th. Xbox 360 and PS3 versions aren’t mentioned in the announcement.

Both expansions are included - The Lord of the Hunt and The Bright Lord - as well as an assortment of skins, runes and challenge maps. All of the content has been previously released as DLC since the game’s release, so don’t go expecting anything new. Still, if you’ve yet to sample Monolith’s open-world stab-em-up, it’s a decent enough deal.

Yours truly reviewed Shadow of Mordor when it was released last year and thought it was a fun, if unoriginal experience, awarding it a final score of 7/10. “The Nemesis system is a great innovation, the combat is fun if derivative, but the writing is lackluster,” I wrote in my Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor review, “and although Monolith has done a decent job of flavoring everything with Tolkien’s lore, it never comes close to the kind of attention to detail and passion seen in the likes of Turbine’s The Lord of the Rings MMO.”

“The early sections of the game will also frustrate many, and side objectives and overall mission design lack variety and imagination. Shadow of Mordor is a solid effort, but not one destined to go down as a classic.”
