Today Bandai Namco announced a new franchise, Rise of Incarnates, for the PC. It’s a 2v2 3D-brawler where battles between superhumans known as Incarnates take place in the remains of giant city-scapes. Players will be able to “run, jump and fly through 3D arenas, engaging in both close-quarters and long-range assaults”.
The world of Rise of Incarnates has been ravaged by meteorites that have dropped the temperatures of the planet, causing the so-called “cube phenomenon”. People with special abilities known as Incarnates rose up - the general public came to fear them and the authorities persecuted them to get a hold of their powers. Currently, 4 of the Incarnates have been revealed, with more to be revealed later.
The game is a collaborative effort between the teams behind the Tekken, Soul Calibur and Gundam Extreme VS series’. Bandai Namco are no strangers to F2P fighting games - Tekken Revolution and Soul Calibur: Lost Swords are two recent examples. But Rise of Incarnates is notable for being an entirely new franchise, built from the group up with F2P in mind.
Rise of Incarnates currently has no firm release date and no platform outside of the PC has been announced. Players can sign-up for access to the Alpha build of the game and read-up a comic detailing the back story on the official website.
