Blizzard has revealed that Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls has sold over 2.7 million copies through online and in-store retailers combined. In addition, the developer has clocked in players having “stopped Death” at least 1.5 million times.
Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls’ meteoric success is hardly a surprise: on the March 25, 2024 launch day Twitch reported the game as having 2.4 million views.
A loot-heavy dungeon-crawler, Diablo 3 was met with considerable financial success, but middling and mixed reviews. Based upon our review, Reaper of Souls is a considerable step forward for Blizzard’s iconic franchise.
The expansion has the player grind their way to Malthiel, the Angel of Death. Along the way, the player can now gain experience to level up to level 70, acquire new and powerful spells and abilities, and play as the new Crusader class.
In addition to class changes, there are core gameplay additions such as Adventure Mode, Bounties, and Nephalem Rifts, all of which add flavor and variety to Diablo 3s already considerable variance.
Currently, there is no further information on a release date for the PlayStation 4 - which we know is coming - or the Xbox One, which so far is just rumored.
