Sony has announced July’s free PlayStation Plus games on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita.
Keeping up with last month’s promise to double the amount of free games, there will be six titles released across for the various platforms.
First, PlayStation 4 will be receiving the Indie platformer TowerFall Ascension: Directors Cut - including 50 new versus levels, 4 new playable characters, and the 12 player co-op Quest Mode with a host of new power-ups. Next up for the PS4 is Capcom’s metroidvania styled Strider, retelling the original story of Hiryu as he infiltrates an Eastern European dystopian nation to assassinate Grandmaster Meio. We recently reviewed Strider and would highly recommend picking it up to compliment your library.
Moving onto the PlayStation 3, players can enjoy Visceral’s Dead Space 3 - the conclusion to their horrifying necromorph outbreak. Dead Space 3 is a great AAA game for PSN and our review reflects the quality of Visceral’s brand of horror, and is great to play with the lights off. PlayStation 3 will also be getting the Indi 2D plat-forming Vessel from Strange Loop Games that focuses on great gameplay rather than major strides forward in graphical improvements.
Last, but not least, is the PS Vita with its first free game of the July; LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes that gives you control of some of DC’s most famous JLA members to help save Gotham once again from the various villains that populate the world. And the Indie title for the Vita is the quirky Doki Doki Universe from HumaNature Studios where you travel between worlds to discover more about the weird inhabitants of the universe. Better yet, Doki Doki Universe is available for cross play between Vita, PS3 and PS4.
It’s looking like a pretty good lineup for the month of July. Check out the announcement trailer to see the individual gameplay of each title.
