Sales figures released today show that the PlayStation 4 was the best-selling console in the U.S. in July, making it the seventh consecutive month that Sony’s device has outsold Microsoft’s Xbox One.

Earlier this week, Sony also stated that they had sold - that’s sold, not shipped - 10 million units to customers worldwide, double that of the Xbox One. Sony also confirmed today that the PlayStation 4 beat the Xbox One last month for U.S. software sales and for the second month in a row as well as outselling Microsoft in home console hardware sales for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 vs. Xbox One and Xbox 360. The monthly data report also stated that The Last of Us Remastered was the top-selling game for July.

Microsoft are yet to report their sales figures. The last statement they made back in May noted that more than five million units had been shipped, not sold, to consumers. Microsoft did however double their Xbox One sales in June after a $399 version of the console went on sale without the Kinect, at a cool $100 below the price of an Xbox One with the Kinect included.
