The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have been out for around 4 months now but consumers are still waiting for the killer app that flexes the muscles of the new hardware. This month we’ll get a taste of high-fidelity goodness courtesy of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - a stand alone game that makes up the prologue chapter to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. However even pre-release the game has been criticized for being only two hours long.

Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima has responded to concerns that The Phantom Pain may not be the full package, divulging that it’s “more than 200x bigger [than Ground Zeroes]“. We assume he is talking about geographical size rather than game length as we can’t see The Phantom Pain being 400 hours long.

These claims may not be as farfetched as they initially seem, the Afghanistan level seen in the E3 trailer appeared huge in scope. The Phantom Pain currently has no release date or release window but we will be able to get a feel for what 200 times the size of Ground Zeroes means after getting our hands on Ground Zeroes later this month.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be released on March 18 across North America and March 20 across Europe. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions which will run at 720p/30FPS and be priced at $19.99/£29.99 ($19.99/£19.99 digital). The PlayStation 4 (1080P/60FPS) and Xbox One (720P/60FPS) versions will go for $29.99/£29.99 (physical and digital).

If you are still having trouble deciding which version to get Konami’s comparison video might help you. Check back with us for our Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes review.
