Tired of your PlayStation DualShock 4 controller draining through its small reserve of battery life half way through your first game of Madden? Well fear not, as Nyko has released a new Power Pak adapter to double the power supply of your game sticks.

The Power Pak snaps on to the back of your existing controller and is rechargeable through the same the standard PlayStation 4 cables that comes with every controller. The Lithium Ion Battery snaps in place through the micro USB port to recharge the controller while you are using it, and is removable once the recharge has been completed. For an extra bonus there is also an on off switch on the Pak that will let you save its juice until you need it most, and it does not impede on the controllers functionality.

“Our goal was to create a device that not only increases the DualShock 4’s battery life, but also matches the controller in comfort and appearance,” said Chris Arbogast, director of marketing at Nyko Technologies. “It’s lightweight and does not impede gameplay or ergonomics, enabling users to extend their gaming sessions.”

The Nyko Power Pak is available today for $19.99 (USD) at Amazon, GameStop, BestBuy, and other retailers. When combined with the new-found ability for players to turn down the spot light equipped on the top of the DualShock 4 this pack should help gamers enjoy more extended gameplay sessions without the hassle of constantly recharging. It’s good to see that the battery life issue is currently being addressed - now if only they can fix the rubber on the sticks…
