Today Nintendo has shown off some footage for Project Treasure, a free-to-play beat-em-up title currently in development by Bandai Namco.
In this four player co-op adventure game, players battle monsters and disarm traps as they work together to raid tombs and collect treasure. The game is said to be in development exclusively for the Wii U, and will be available to download from the Nintendo eShop.
Along with the Tekken-style Pokémon fighter, Pokkén Tournament, Tekken Director Katsuhiro Harada is said to be currently working on Project Treasure as well. Very little is known about whether or not the game will have monetization at some point, but the footage is intriguing, opting for action-heavy dungeon crawls with characters wielding both melee and ranged weaponry. In other Bandai-Namco news, Tekken fans are still eagerly awaiting for news surrounding the console launch of Tekken 7. Having been released on arcade machines for over a year now in Japan, the game is said to make use out of the newest Unreal 4 game engine and is expected to launch on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well at some point - all previous Tekken games have enjoyed a release on home consoles, so it seems unlikely that Bandai Namco isn’t planning something similar for the latest iteration of the series. The most recent character to be revealed for the game is Kasumi Mishima, wife of series stalwart Heihahi. That makes her Jin’s grandmother (!) and Kazuya’s mother.
