Swedish Indie dev Might and Delight has revealed some more details about what you can expect from Shelter 2 when it releases later this year.

In the original game, you took the role of a badger seeking to protect her cubs in a hostile environment. In Shelter 2, you’ll still be performing the same task - only this time, you’ll play as a lynx. You’ll start each game with a number of cubs - which you get to name - who will then be featured on a family tree.

Complete the game, and your surviving offspring will then become playable in subsequent playthroughs.

“We wanted to continue to build features around the concept of family, besides just protecting your cubs. And the idea of a bloodline that can be continued and evolved just fits the world of Shelter perfectly.” said Anders Westin, CEO of Might and Delight in a press release issued today.

In addition, each cub in the game will have its own unique coloring, which will be passed down to its offspring.

Shelter was something of a pleasant surprise when it released last year. With its unique premise and artstyle, it picked up a lot of fans. Shelter 2 sees the developer taking the core premise of the first game and expanding on it, with new moves, environments, a hunting system, and more ways to communicate with your cubs as you lead them to safety.
