Square Enix has released a 3 minute trailer for upcoming hack and slash RPG Lords of the Fallen, which is in development by Deck 13 and CI Games.
Lords of the Fallen is unashamedly inspired by Dark Souls, though its visual style falls a little closer to Darksiders. That’s not a bad thing, though - after all, Dark Souls was excellent. Though you’ll play as a pre-determined character, it retains the same slow-paced and punishing combat which typifies the Souls series, though is aiming to be a little more accessible. Lords will also have a greater emphasis on story than the Souls games, which are known for taking a more hands-off approach to narrative, opting to let players try to piece together the history of its worlds.
The trailer, which you can watch below, features a combination of cinematic snippets and actual in-game footage which currently looks to be a graphically crisp game heavily focused on realistic lighting.
Lords of the Fallen will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 31.
