New Dev Diary released for Alien: Isolation

Creative Assembly has today released a Dev Diary going over some of the work that’s gone into their upcoming survival horror Alien: Isolation.

Isolation is set 15 years after the events of Ridley Scott’s seminal 1979 sci-fi horror flick Alien. Casting the player as Samantha Ripley, daughter of the films’ central protagonist Ellen Ripley, the game eschews the recent trend of Alien games throwing wave upon wave of easily slaughtered cannon fodder by featuring just a single, hulking monstrosity that stalks you throughout. It’s already looking like a big improvement on the previous game based on the franchise. Gearbox’s Aliens: Colonial Marines was released after an unusually prolonged development to dire critical reception, with Gearbox themselves later becoming embroiled in a legal battle against Sega.

Isolation isn’t due out until the end of the year at the earliest, but it already seems like it’s going to be worth the wait.
