Limited Edition Destiny PS4 Announced

Ltd Edition Destiny-themed PS4

Sony has revealed another new limited edition PlayStation 4, timed to coincide with the release of Destiny: The Taken King.

There are many ways to skin a cat, but if current trends are anything to go by - what with the release of more than five unique variations of the PS4 this year alone - Sony’s solution might be to just throw a console at it.

Scheduled to drop right alongside the game itself on September 15th, the purchase of a limited edition console will net you not only the 500GB console itself but a copy of Destiny and a redeemable code for new expansion The Taken King - which fans will know comes with the two previous DLC add-ons, The Dark Below and House of Wolves.

Also included within the bundle is a Digital Collector’s Edition upgrade, which boasts three unique emotes, an early access weapon pack, three unique shaders and exotic Guardian class items that come with XP boosts.

There’s no mention of a price in the announcement.

Bungie’s reveal of The Taken King expansion has seen the developer come under fire recently for its high price point. Bungie initially defended the price, before backlash from fans and negative publicity forced them to backtrack slightly and promise to look into ways to provide additional value. At launch, The Taken King will carry a pricetag of $40, not far short of the price of a full retail release and one of the highest prices for DLC yet seen.

Kyle Barrows reviewed Destiny for Continue Play back when the game came out last year. He wasn’t particularly impressed, awarding Bungie’s first post-Halo game 6/10 due to its limited content, repetitive gameplay and poor storytelling.

“If Bungie could have delivered on even half the promises it made, Destiny could have been something great,” Kyle wrote in hs Destiny review. “Instead, we are left with the skeleton of good game – and not much more.”
