Mortal Kombat X is getting a mobile version

Mortal Kombat X

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. have announced a free-to-play mobile version of Mortal Kombat X, to be released on Android and iOS alongside the PC and console versions on April 14th.

The mobile version of Mortal Kombat X, perplexingly also called Mortal Kombat X without any kind of fancy subtitle to differentiate it from its console and PC parent, is a hybrid card and fighting game designed to interact with the core PC and console version of the game. “NetherRealm Studios has created a Mortal Kombat X mobile experience that allows more players than ever before to play this over-the-top fighting game through their ever-present smartphones, tablets, or other devices,” said Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon. “What’s more, we’ve expanded the unique cross-connectivity feature that links the mobile and console versions of Mortal Kombat X, delivering unique rewards to all players for simply playing the mobile game.”

NetherRealm says that the mobile Mortal Kombat X will feature multiplayer team combat, fighting, and card collecting. It also features “a full roster” of characters, although it doesn’t necessarily mean the character rosters will be the same between full and mobile versions.

There’s a trailer to go alone with the announcement, as you’d expect.
