Most people had guessed that we had a new Gears of War title to look forward to, and now it’s finally been announced. A trailer for Gears 4 was revealed at the end of Microsoft’s E3 presentation and is due to release during the “holiday” of 2016.
In the trailer there are two unknown characters who appear to be hunting some sort of beast. They first work their way through a forest and then into the ruin of a village (it’s important to note that the graphics in this trailer make real life look low definition). They end up catching up to their prey, only to realize that there are a lot more beasties than they thought. A nice gory gunfight ensues, showcasing the now well known cover based gameplay that fans know and love.
We also got a nice peek at several iconic weapons - the lancer, gnasher and snub pistol. There is, of course, still a chainsaw to cut up any poor creature that stands in your way.
Sadly, I’m not really any the wiser as to what happened in the trailer. What were those monsters? When is this set? Who are these two people? I only seem to have more questions, but I’m sure that’s what Microsoft wanted. This trailer will really get people talking.
After the slightly disappointing release of Gears of War Judgement, fans of the series (including me) will be hoping for a return to form for the Gears franchise. By the looks of this trailer, things are shaping up well.
