Vital plot information (including key details about the story, endings and enemies) from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has recently been leaked on popular websites such as Reddit and 4chan.

The information was reportedly taken from an employee at CD Projekt Red, who had their Google Drive account hacked into. Michal Platkow-Gilewski - CD Projekt Red’s marketing boss - had the following to say: “It has come to our attention that some of the production files for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have emerged on the internet, a portion of the files contains information about the story of the game so we strongly advise against accessing them, as this may heavily impact and spoil your future gaming experience.” This is clearly a confirmation of the validity of the leaked content.

Taking a closer look at the leaked files reveals much more than just details of the various endings and missions. There is a full bestiary of the various monsters, including seven that have apparently been cut from the final release version, as well as PDFs full to the brim with detailed descriptions, production art and animations. A particularly striking document is one that details the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s E3 2014 demo and how it was planned to play out for those watching.

“We start with a cut-scene with the camera descending down on the Baron’s castle, showing off the lovely open world surrounding it. The camera tracks in on the window of the cottage where we talk to Keira Metz and she gives us a task: remove the curse from the tower in the swamps. (Boob physics eye candy, appropriately prepared dialogue).”

Boob physics? Eye Candy? This was clearly not meant for our eyes, and it’s a little disappointing to see the attitude the developers have towards the players. The first Witcher game came in for criticism for rewarding players with collectible portraits of women in suggestive poses after bedding them; while the second game’s sexual content was no less adult, it was at least handled a little more tactfully.

More documents include details of a final playable version being finished as early as February 2014 and others detail later support for SmartGlass and Kinect.

Although this leak is unfortunate, CD Projekt Red said that it has not affected the development cycle in any way and that, although there is still much work to do (including debugging, music and recording of dialogue), we can expect to have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in February 2015 as planned.
